01 Orders & Shipping
How do I place an order?
Browse our collections and add items to your cart. Proceed to checkout to complete your order. We accept all major credit cards and various payment methods.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes!
We ship to all states in the continental U.S. Unfortunately, we currently cannot ship to Hawaii (HI) or Alaska (AK). Free local pickup is available at our South El Monte warehouse.
How much does shipping cost?
Free shipping on orders $149 or more. A $35 flat rate applies to orders under $149. Local pickup is always free with no minimum order required.
How are frozen products shipped?
All frozen products are packed with dry ice or cold packs and shipped via FedEx or UPS Next-Day Air. Please refrigerate or freeze items immediately upon arrival to maintain quality.
When will my order ship?
Orders are typically processed and shipped within 1–2 business days. You'll receive a tracking number via email once your order has shipped.
Can I change my shipping address after placing an order?
Please contact us at info@unexpectedmeal.com as soon as possible with your order number. We'll do our best to update your address before the order ships.
02 Returns & Refunds
What is your return policy?
Due to the perishable nature of our products, we generally do not accept returns. However, if there's an issue with your order, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery with photos and we'll do everything we can to make it right.
What if my items arrive damaged?
Take photos of the damaged items and packaging immediately and contact us at info@unexpectedmeal.com within 24 hours of delivery. Include your order number and photos for the fastest resolution.
What if my order arrived thawed or warmer than expected?
Partial thawing during transit is normal for frozen items shipped with dry ice. If your items are cool to the touch upon arrival, they are generally safe to consume. If you have concerns, take photos and contact us within 24 hours, do not consume anything you're unsure about.
03 Local Pickup
How does local pickup work?
Place your order online and select Local Pick-up at checkout. We'll notify you when your order is ready. Come to our South El Monte warehouse during pickup hours and your order will be waiting, stored at the correct temperature.
Where is the pickup location?
9205 E Rush St. Unit C, South El Monte, CA 91733
Open Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
We also have community pickup points in the LA/OC area. Contact us for details.
Is local pickup really free?
Yes! Local pickup is always free with no minimum order requirement. Just select it at checkout and no shipping fee will be applied.
04 Products
Where do your products come from?
We source over 300 premium ingredients from Korea and around the world, wagyu, sashimi-grade seafood, meal kits, seasonal produce, and more. As an FDA-registered agent, all products go through full import/export compliance before reaching our customers.
Are your products safe to eat?
Yes. All products meet FDA and USDA standards. We work exclusively with certified manufacturers and maintain a strict cold-chain system, from source to your door. Our USDA-certified logistics center stores every product at precise temperature and humidity settings.
Do you carry seasonal products?
Yes. We regularly introduce seasonal specials like Korean strawberry varieties (Pink Candy, Snowberry, Arihyang) and other limited-availability items. Check our Seasonal collection or follow us on Instagram at @unexpectedmeal.la to stay updated.
I'm a restaurant or retailer, can I buy wholesale?
